Leinster as a team score far more tries than we do as they have better players setting up opportunities for the finishers like Carr so you would expect his strike rate to be better than our finishers.
However, he failed to get a decent run of games and it's clear that with more game time a wingers strike rate improves so if he played more regularly, he could have even better stats.
After my initial whinging about him returning, I'm kinda thinking now that it can only be a good thing. More competition and he wont be on big money so wont affect getting a decent 2nd row/hooker

compare that to fetu - 4 in 21 appearances.
toh- 7 in 37 appearances.
poolman- 3 in 7 appearances .
mccrea- 2 in 7 appearances.
all figures are for pro12 only.
add in griffin- 4 tries, mcsharry- 2, henshaw-0, tonetti- 0 and duffy 10.
it shows that we have a problem in scoring tries. every team needs a tryscorer. its like a soccer team without a decent striker. they will struggle to get results.
there are no guarentees with carr but the stats are in his favour.

In the grand scheme of things, ignoring details, a move from Leinster to Connacht is a step down. Leinster hasn't worked out for Fionn like he'd hoped and his mindset on returning will be all important. Is he going to be coming back with his tail between his legs, or with the belief that he has something to prove? Will he be thinking his international prospects are over and he has found his level, or is he angry?
Here's hoping he has a monumental chip on his shoulder, otherwise we're not getting back the same player that left.
His scoring rate needs revitalising, here's hoping he'll get that with us.
It's funny, players leave Connacht for better prospects, training with the best players, best coaches etc. and there are coaches (Guy Easterby for one) who have insinuated that they worry that the players signed from Connacht are effectively starting from zero in terms of learning the game. I for one hope when Carr comes back that he hasn't been ruined by Leinster's coaches, he hasn't been the same player (neither has Cronin for that matter.)
That's actually quite true ummm. He'll also have to fight his way into the team now whereas before he left us he was probably in the first 5 names on the team sheet and one of our very few back line threats - now we have several more.
Although saying that, with Pat Lam in, it'll be a fresh start for everyone regardless of history so should be good competition at training right from the start.

We've better all round wingers now anyway.
But like I said, if he scores a heap of tries and isn't the cause of a few against us, I'll be the first to cheer him crossing the line
If he has signed I'm delighted. Had no problem with him leaving, he proved with us that he was a top class finisher, you get one career and if the offers don't come for whatever reason in sometimes you have to take a leap yourself. It didn't work out as well as he had hope at Leinster, don't think that was from lack of effort. He'll be a success again when he comes back and a real asset, and if our younger players can learn from his finishing skill we can only improve as a squad...
Would really hope that we can keep Fet's as well, I really like the cut of his gib and is a brilliant addition to the squad for me.
Poolman has been excellent, period. He arrived with an injury, but since he has become fit you can see him getting sharper and sharper. Very positive player, can't wait to see how he improves next year with a season behind him...

We need more from these types of signings surely?
I think Poolman has made a good start to his time here. Wasn't great against Leinster but apart from that has performed well each time I've seen him. He's here for another 2 seasons and will only get better imo. I'd like to see him settle in one position or other though.

I think Danie Poolman is a fantastic player and will only get better or the coming months and (hopefully) seasons. He shows a different spark to the other lads.

Looks like this may have actually happened and that Carr is returning to us. Had a feeling about this all year and the body language of Carr when he had a start for Leinster didn't look the best.
I was serious pissed when he left as I thought it was just totally impetuous at the time Cronin and Keatley left. But we all learn things on life's journey and Carr is no different. I have watched Connacht all season and line breakers win games They are few & far between at Connacht.
He's still young enough to cause damage and if he scores 6 - 10 tries next season with Fetu & Tiernan doing their stiff when playing , then it is a great addition for us. It he doesn't score enough tries, please ignore my last comments
Let's go Connacht!!!!
