6-months-ACL period started in March (prevented him from going to the Olympics) at least it is coherant that he's back to training in August
But a majority not convinced he looks like Ben Lam enough on those pics...Really don't know, he should be even more important if they have hidden it!

Ben Lam was ommitted from the Auckland Mitre Cup squad a month ago due to injury. Don't know if that rules him out or makes him a likely signing.

Yes I saw they have removed it too, so I thought I shoudn't talk about him anymore. But I'm so excited!!!
Given the lack of reaction here since yesterday, I guess some know and try to hide it! ;)

Must be a secret. Looks like inpho.ie have pulled the picture. From what I remember from the pic I don't think it's Ben Lam, but could be wrong.

In one way I'm glad to see mcsharry retire; great player for us but there's more to life than rugby and prefer to see him go now than on the back of further problems. Really hope he doesn't suffer any lasting problems.

One of the best defenders to ever put on a Connacht jersey and you can count on the fingers of a closed fist the number of times he let us down. Never once looked at a team sheet with him in it and worried and just hope he adapts to civilian life quickly.

McShazz on the pitch never was a disappointement indeed. With Clarke, Tonetti and Wilkinson, we lost 4 talented guys, but protected them from worse :)

Sad to hear of McSharry today. It's a shame for Any player being forced to retire due to injury. He was always great in green and represented us well!

Your health is your wealth as they say and I wish him all the best in whatever walk of life he finds himself in, in the future.

Really sad to hear about Dave McSharry. He made a big impact for us when he first arrived and the team was really struggling. With a number of injuries and others signings or coming through he didn't get as many opportunities but he was always a good performer for us when called upon. It's scary for him hitting the real world at 26 but hopefully he has got out on time and he can push on in the next stage of his life. Really wish him well for the future.

Damn that's sure now, one last signing! (Speculation on board.ie : looks like Ben Lam, Pat 's nephew, All-black 7's International :cheer: )

Some of us were right till the begining, as long as they haven't announced the end, there are more rejoices to come :woohoo:

I think "lost the fulcrum of our attack" is over-egging it a little bit. Aly was simply wonderful last year, but by his own admission he was poor his first year and had a mixed second year (got better as the season went on). It's hardly beyond the bounds of possibility that Lam will do his coals-into-diamonds routine with someone else. As for MacGinty, he has a wonderful record - 9 wins from 9 league starts - but started only one game before Carty was injured and has limitations (O'Leary was sent on to seal the deal in both Glasgow matches, for instance, and did).

If Connacht proved anything last season it was that the collective and an ability to swap players into the team seamlessly are key to success. Bealham was 3rd choice in his position at the start of the season. MacGinty was in that position when he arrived with the season already started. Dillane and SOB were playing AIL. We've lost a few but we're carrying less dead weight than last year (at least 4 of last year's senior squad who didn't make even one league start due to injury).

I remember when you had trouble picking a best Connacht team because we only had 8 or 10 quality players. Now if you had to pick a best team 1, 2, 9, 12 and the back three pick themselves and then every position is up for debate. And even the back three will have to watch their backs with Kelleher, Brennan & Poolman around.
