There's been a complete change in how the academies operate...

Players paid 8k bursary and insurance paid by IRFU (as opposed to 4k, half of which went on insurance, previously).

No fixed length for academy, 2 or 3 year terms depending on age, position, progression, time lost to injury.

All players evaluated for release/retention/promotion at the end of each year.

...so it makes sense that numbers will vary from season to season. We can expect most year 3s to be front five players too.

So assuming the main 25-27-man main squad is what it is now (no more injuries), I think our best Eagles team would be something like:

1) McCabe
2) Delahunt
3) McCoy
4) Gallagher
5) Thornbury
6) E.McKeon
7) Connolly
8 ) Harley Fox
9) C.McKeon
10) Deegan
12) Robb in December, Ronaldson maybe if Aki/Farrell/Griffin leaves him out
13) Brennan
11) Conroy
14) Ili
15) the less needed with main squad between Kelleher and Scholes


16) O'Toole
17) J.P Cooney
18) O'Donnell
19) Claffey
20) S.Masterson
21) Kerrins
22) L.Carty
23) Byrne or Leavy
