After the Newcastle away game, but since you're heading into Christmas, it prob won't be straight away. I think last year it was sometime between Christmas and New Year.

Pinky,
Any feelings on which day the match might be on? I want to start to plan my trip. I'm including a day or two in Paris, in response to the attacks.

Not a clue I'm afraid. I asked some of the Brive fans who were over and they didn't have much of a prediction either.
My guess would be that if it's not televised it'll be on Saturday as I think that's their usual game day, but even that is speculation.
Decent chance it will be the pool decider though, in which case French TV might pick it up. That could mean Thursday night (we've gotten away with it too long) or Saturday night.
I hope it's Saturday as that would mean we could potentially get a bus going from Carcassonne and get a good gang over.
I also hope they announce the fixtures straight after Round 4 this time. Last year I think it was after Christmas.

Don't think it'll be a Thursday, they traditionally tend to be the preserve of Aviva Premiership sides...

EI have DUB to CDG for 52e on the Thursday Morning, getting in at 9.40. If the match is on Thursday, it's possible to get a train to Brive, arriving at 17:30ish. So plenty of time for the match.

the flight from Dub that arrives around midday is 20e, Thursday and Friday at moment. But it's not possible to get to Brive in time, by car or train in time, as you have less than 1hr to get to Austerlitz from Airport.
Flight CDG to DUB, on the Monday 17:00 is only 20e at moment.

There are three flights a day from Orly to Brive on Thursday so noon arrivals to CDG could change airports and take the 16.00 flight and arrive at 17.15. The other alternative is to drive from CDG, a trip of about five hours, which is not much slower than the train [there's no TGV on this route] when you take the trip to Gare de Austerlitz into account. It's a straight forward drive through some of the dullest countryside in France.

In any case, the sooner the EPCR sort out the date the better for us all! Also note, beIN Sport show all challenge cup games involving French clubs live but they generally don't interfere in the scheduling unlike the previous incumbent Canal Plus.

I didn't realise that. EPCR fixtures list only ever shows the Thursday night game on beIN and a Saturday night one on FR4.

I'd excluded the cross city dash between airports, mainly due to hassle in getting across with any luggage. it's cheap enough at 56e,

I left out driving, viamichelin say 70+ e, for tolls and fuel, for a single traveler, it's a bit much. 140e from Hertz for Thurs to Monday. Plus, I could get some rest on the train. For the morning flight, I'd be up at 1am so wouldn't be up for driving that distance.

My plan is book flights in and out of Paris, initially, then book hotels when dates are available. 50-60e for Ibis in Brive. I want to spend a night or two in Paris too.

For some reason, EPCR only lists the live games on beIN Sports 1,2, or 3. The rugby is also on beIN Sports Max 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10. Wall to wall it is..

Has a pub been picked for this trip? I'm looking at hotels and want to make sure I'm not too far away

I don't think we picked a definite one yet. The centre of town where all the pubs are seems pretty small though.
I provisionally booked the Ibis budget, which is miles out, so I might need to get something closer given my navigation skills.

Yeah, I'm looking for something close to the centre. It seems a pretty small place in terms of the centre of town, but only two Irish pubs; Le Lord and The Shamrock. They're right beside each, other though. So I guess if they're the only choices the hotel location takes care of itself.

("The Shamrock", I mean, really. That's the problem with the French, they have no word for cliché)

Had a look at that IBIS Budget, 10min taxi ride from the Irish bars, I'll probably book the Ibis proper in town, it's a 15min walk to the bars.
about 70e a night, with free cancellation. I'll probably book once we have dates, as I don't want to spend 4 nights in Brive. (I'm sure it's a nice town, though). I'm seeing 29 prepay for the Ibis budget, the difference to Ibis in town, would cover a few taxi's, and there's a bus from near the hotel to town.
