Emerging Ireland hammered Russia 66-0 in the Nations Cup in Bucharest, with the game lasting just 45 minutes before it was called off due to thunder and lightning.
The adverse weather meant that referee Ian Davies called a halt to proceedings early as the conditions were deemed unplayable amid concerns for player safety at Stadionul National Arcul de Triumf.
As the storm persisted for 30 minutes in duration, under official tournament rules, the game was abandoned and the score at the time of the game being abandoned was adopted as the final result.
Russia may well have been glad to have the tie ended 35 minutes early as they had just had their hooker Stanislav Selskiy sin-binned prior the storm halting play.
Andrew Conway scored a hat-trick for Ireland, with Craig Gilroy scoring a brace and Ian Keatley, Niall Annett, Robin Copeland, Tommy O'Donnell and Paul Marshall all crossing for a try each.
Ian Keatley kicked five conversions, while JJ Hanrahan knocked over three.

Not giving Marmion a run is just another way of saying you should be at a bigger club son.

He was already Irish qualified when he played for the Wolfhounds against the Saxons, so it wasn't that. Agree that he should be playing this weekend.

Fu@king ridiculous frankly having an injured Murray on the bench.

Even that doesn't seem like a good reason for me. Marmion deserved another 20 minutes at least in my opinion. Noel Reid on the bench makes even less sense to me than bringing him over in the first place, I suppose McFadden covers 11-14 but not if he has to go off.
Frankly it's an absolute bullsh*t call playing both Reddan & Murray particularly against this weakened Argentina side, what if anything new is Schmidt going to learn from the performance of either? After Marmion getting only 20 or so minutes between the four tests of this tour and the USA/Canada one last year, frankly it was a complete waste of his time and a golden opportunity to push on his development and test him properly at International level. Given the amount of rugby he has played in the last two seasons for us, he would probably have gotten more out of a proper break and a full pre-season.

The only thing I can think of is that Schmidt wants to look at everyone he's brought with them and give them all at least some gamtime but yes I'd rather Rod on the bench getting another 20. At least he hasn't done and EOS when he brought Peter Bracken over to Argentina and then not play him. That was simply ridiculous.
