Hi guys,

I've just kicked off a post on facebook for this, but I'd say we'll get more support here. We're trying to get people to donate whatever merchandise or memorabilia they have lying around in order to decorate the bar and give it a bit more identity. I've thrown in two of the green foam fingers I had from the Challenge Cup quarters to get the ball rolling. If anyone wants to contribute anything please let us know here or bring it along to the match on Saturday, I'll arrange for a bag to be left behind the bar before the game. Hopefully we can get a nice bit of stuff to fill up the walls before the first league game.

Cupla ceist, if I give lets say a signed and framed jersey, will it be safe and will I get it back? We have a few bits around but id like to get them back if ever I wanted them and Id like them to be safe.

Anything we get will be going up on the walls of the bar, I would say only donate stuff that you'd be willing to give up completely.

Reminder that we'll be in the Clan Bar before the game if anyone wants to donate anything. It doesn't have to be anything big or new, in fact the older the better. Anything to give the place a bit more character/history - scarves, hats, flags, Connacht santa hats, Elwood masks etc.

Former Connacht prop Dylan Rogers has gotten onto us on twitter. He says he'll bring over a training jersey for us when he comes over in December.

Might be worth sending Andrew Farley a tweet/DM (via Clan account) and ask him if he would donate one of his Grenoble jerseys. 100+ Connacht Caps, Captain three seasons in a Row, Ireland A. Captain of Grenoble three years in a row. Think it would be a nice way to remember him and mix up the display a little bit, so that we can see the success our players have gone on to...

You could try Bernard Jackman too, pretty sure Berch will commit to sending something too...maybe something from his HEC season with Leinster or Ireland stuff, doesn't have to be all shirts either (Shorts/Socks/Training tops) just mix it up a bit, but keep the core of it Connacht and put little plaques with the non-Connacht stuff to link them back..

Might it be worth trying to get some club jerseys from around the province to put up? Ballina, sligo, Westport, Tuam, Corinthians, galwegians, Connemara etc etc some club plagues or crests? To try and show the whole province and all the clubs. A map of the province maybe with all the club locations marked on it might be another idea.

cough cough. i seen a guy on facebook suggest swapping flags with away crowd after games and could hang them from the ceiling. send a tweet to the team or supporters club few days before hand and get the away supporters to sign there names on there flag and then hang it up :cheer:
it would make there supporters fell more welcomed and would also bring more fans into the clan bar apres match for beer and more banter!
full size flag would be better, and then hand over our connacht flag to whoever from the away fans who gave theres away.

i know the clan swap pennants but getting fans to sign a flag would seem better to me

Loving some of the ideas going around. The more we can decorate the walls the better.
I wonder could Heineken possible provide something to do with Connacht and our first Heineken Cup experience. They could have it behind the bar

Definitely should try to have stuff representing clubs around the province

Guys

All the flags we have are Connacht Rugby branded.

It might be nice to have some sort of Supporters Club flag or banner like the ones shown by Sea_Point I think, in another topic on this forum, especially for the away trips.

On a slightly side note, is there any chance the Branch might consider bringing the new big flag with them as part of the team kit. We could collect it before the game and give it back to Martin after.

We can definitely look into both of those options. We are usually in contact with the supporters clubs of our European opposition teams, but not really in the PRO12.

It would definitely be nice to have our own supporters flag. I'm not sure that Connacht Rugby will lend us their flag to due to size/price, but we can ask.

Connacht very kindly passed on contact details for the flags. See their website here: www.flags.co.uk/

I'm assuming we want as lightweight as possible, but any ideas of what sizes people want?

EDIT: And I'm looking into getting some smaller 'hand' flags done. The flags listed above seem to be monsters of things and priced accordingly.

If we have any money left after sponsoring Healy, could we put it towards the flag?

Have already been in contact with them.

A flag the size of the new Connacht one will cost over £900.

I have asked for a price for something half the size 2m x 4m. or what could we get for about €100.
