Connacht will be away in Northampton in the first round of the Champions Cup Playoff on Saturday May 20th.

It's short notice to travel, but we brought a good crew to the final last season so hopefully our ingenuity will get us there. A good crew has signed up already.

When: May 20th at 4pm.
Where: Franklin's Gardens, Northampton

Getting there

Birmingham airport is a good option for Northampton. Flights from Shannon with Aer Lingus, Knock with FlyBe and Dublin with Ryanair/Aer Lingus.

There are direct trains from the airport to Northampton every few minutes (most London-bound trains stop there). Check schedules at www.nationalrail.co.uk

Luton is very close to Northampton via direct bus. Ryanair from Knock.

If you want to get back on Saturday, the last flights from BHX are at 2025. If you want to stay a bit later and get back for Sunday morning, Eurolines leaves Birmingham at 2200 getting into Dublin at 0615 and you can connect from there to anywhere on their network. SailRail is an option too but the connections to Holyhead aren't great on Saturday night.

Northampton Guildhall

Tickets

Match tickets are available directly from the Northampton Saints ticketing website. The Connacht Clan are in Terrace D.

Hospitality

We will gather before the game at the Thomas A Beckett, which is on the way from the station to the ground on St James' Road. This is the official home of the Northampton Saints Supporters' Club. There should be a crowd gathering there from about midday. The provisional plan is to go there again after the match. The Premiership semi-final (Wasps v Leicester) will be on and we should also be able to get at least the second half of Munster v Ospreys.

There is a Ministry of Sound gig in the stadium the evening of the match if you want to stay in the vicinity.

Those clan mafia lads literally could not organise a piss up in a brewery. There is a good scatter of Connacht fans in Oneills but the clan are nowhere to be seen. Quite typical of this season to be honest.

Very disappointed you felt this way EEZIPC. There is no Mafia here. I have gone a many away trips with the Clan. They are a great crew. I can even say I have made new friends because of the Clan.
The Clan committee do a great job in making away trips easier and linking fans through the forum. It's a thankless job at times, but they are doing it for the love of their province, no-one is getting paid to do this and they are giving up their time to the Clan. Keep up the great work B)

eezipc, considering how you feel and given you don't think it's worth joining the clan, why do you participate on our forum and crave the company of the clan?

To be honest eezipc your statement is a load of shite, Clan Mafia my hole. I'm travelling to a lot more of away matches the last couple of years and this so called Mafia make it much easier with announcing different travel options accommodation etc etc. And out of there own time and they probably don't get thanked half enough, last thing they need is people such as yourself being a dick. If you need someone to hold your hand your in the wrong place. Connacht fans were in Becketts and then O Neill's if you mingled and asked you would have known that.... Clan keep up the good work

As Godfather of the clan mafia I decided not to invite you to the brewery where we had our piss up. Since you're too tight to pay 10 euro to be a member of the Connacht supporters club I figured you wouldn't be good for rounds. Sorry.

I can't agree enough with swifty and fourdogs. the clan do a huge amount of work and engage with fans (not just Connacht fans) massively. I've had dealings with plenty of other supporter clubs and what the clan does is streets ahead, which isn't meant to be a put down to efforts of the volunteers of other clubs.

Like fourdogs said, if you think you can do better I doubt the clan will turn away extra help

What's your problem with the clan. You always seem to be giving out.
Maybe if you actually became a member and interacted with more supporters you'd actually have more info that's going on. I seen you at the final whistle and you didn't seem to make much effort to mix with group of Connacht fans. Maybe you should of asked what the post match plans where.
The main bar of the Thomas Beckett was full of Connacht fans up till 9.
I wasn't in o'neills, but please explain what you mean by, Connacht fans there but no clan to be seen?
Did you ask every Connacht fan were they a member of the clan or are you referring to committee members?
Yes there were committee members there, not all because this isn't there jobs. You hardly expect all them to be there, as much as we love Connacht, we all have lives outside of the sport, family, jobs etc

eezipc. If "Clan Mafia" are doing such a bad job, why don't you step up to the mark next year, join the committee, and show them how it should be done properly to your exceptionally high standards.

The lads and dont forget the ladies of the Clan Committee put in a hugh amount of time and effort over the year and receive absolutely nothing in return for it except criticism from idiots.

The Supporters gear, engaging with other supporter clubs, pre match lunches for the away European games, free gifts with your season ticket, the Clan Bar, after match interviews with players and the Hall of Fame, just a few of the things that they do.

Most people won't be in Northampton till tomorrow. I'm staying inBrum tonight. If Connacht win tomorrow, a tasty game with Stade awaits in the Sportsground. That should be an even bigger incentive for Connacht to win.

I'll be watching it at the departure gate in Dublin :-)
From the updates on here it doesn't look like there's many in Northampton tonight.
We'll expect ye to give us the full tour-guide experience tomorrow though.

Saints SC reckon best to head back to the pub after the game as they may not have the other matches on the TV at the ground.
So shall we say the Thomas a Becket as the gathering point before the game?
Provisionally head there again afterwards but play it by ear.

Should be a good atmosphere on Saturday. Northampton are handing out free tickets to all 2017/2018 season ticket holders. Nice gesture.
