Woo that's a big call! I would think Muldoon is the favourite, one of last season's three captains, a respected senior player, likely to feature in the majority of games. My pick of the young guys has always been Marmion but next year might be more suitable.

Muldoon would be the logical choice except that Muldoon doesnt fancy the captaincy afaik.
I wouldnt be gone on having a capt that doesnt want to be capt.
Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

If it wasn't a World Cup year coming up, I would vote for Robbie as Captain........ Swift to keep going with Muldoon for the role.

It makes sense for Muldoon to be the on the pitch captain.
My understanding is that he wasn't keen on the role, off the pitch, when he was captain before Duffy.
Ideally, he should have the on field role, and let Swifty take the Club Captain role, and be an ambassador.
McCarthy would have been great I'm still not over that

Muldoon would under normal circumstances be a solid choice, but looking at the team he is also the default choice. Not many alternatives. Marmion is a possibility but probably a little young and needs to be left to concentrate on his game. Swifty has the experience but probably won't get the game time to justify selecting him. None of the other locks stand out nor any of the fly halves. Personally wouldn't go any further out in the backs for a captain unless we're talking BOD level and not seeing that leadership level yet. Fullback is a definite no for captain so even if Mils' was in camp already I wouldn't consider him. George at his best would garner consideration but we're probably pass that. So who does that leave us with? White, Heenan or maybe a gamble that Faloon can stay healthy enough? Does Pat have a surprise up his sleeve?

And to further add further fuel to the debate for the conspiracy theorists, Mul did the speaking today at Ballinrobe.
Rumour has it he did a crash course in GMIT during the week in Mayoese...

Connacht posted a short video with Muldoon about the captaincy, he says work has already begun on the sportsground what's that about?

They have planning permission to extend the clubhouse (over the existing balcony) & put a proper camera position in the main stand, and Lam has asked for an improved gym/strength and conditioning setup. Not aware of anything in terms of stands etc.

John Muldoon has been a big leader for Connacht, with Clarke gone there weren't too many other options. Nathan White possibly but he got involved in some stupid stuff at times last year.
Heenan is hopefully a future captain but let him get a good season under his belt and re-evaluate.
