I see on the latest fanzine Connacht ST Sales has surpassed the 3000 mark and still selling.....
A few months back I posted on boards.ie that Connacht should hit the 3000 ST mark this year, it was met with negative replies, and looked down upon for such a ridiculous post.. one poster stating we be lucky to get 1000......... >

The brilliant atmosphere and the couple of early wins has helped make up peoples minds who wore dithering about buying one, especially as it is the only way to get into the H Cup matches.

Outstanding! I had a feeling they'd break the 3000 barrier after last weekend's victory and all the buzz over the new structures, etc. Now, let's work at getting most of those 3000 out for EVERY home game.

600 sold last year and 3,000 sold this year. Hope the IRFU are taking note of this.

My aim is to make 10 home games this season out of 14. Can't usually make Friday night games, but booked a half day for next week, so I get home in time. Unfortunately, I know of a few ST holders who live on the East Coast, and unless the games are on Saturday, can't make it.

Yeah, I understand that. I realize not EVERYone can make EVERY game because of schedule conflicts with work, etc. The ones I'm talking about are the ones who bought a season ticket just for the inter-pro games and the Heineken Cup matches. We've got to help them see that the other games have value as well.

Maybe focusing marketing/events/free transport more around the non inter-pro games and the Heineken Cup matches will help? The Big games will look more or less after themselves in terms of publicity and interest...

I was delighted when I heard we had reached 2000!
3000 is excellent and everyone concerned deserves a lot of praise. Well done

Yep good point SP. Even just the offer of something free will remind people of the game and get the question of "are you going?" thrown around a little.Maybe focusing marketing/events/free transport more around the non inter-pro games and the Heineken Cup matches will help? People generally aren't all that interested in the non-Interpros, but it's all about how you sell the idea.
Sometime Fan: "'sup bleed, what you doing the weekend"
You: "Off to the sportsground, we're playing Dragons, you fancy coming?"
Sometime Fan: "That's a joke right? Dragons? Who gives a f..."
OR
Sometime Fan: "'sup bleed, what you doing the weekend"
You: "Are you kidding? Haven't you heard? We're only one point behind Ulster and need a win tonight to keep the pressure on them. We've just won four on the bounce and the team is playing like their lives depend on it. You should see them, they're incredible at the moment"
Sometime Fan: "Cool, I'll get my coat"
You: "No need, here's a nice Connacht Clan hoodie. That's twent... that's thirty euro you owe me"

It's like sausages, you have to know how to sell the sizzle.
But seriously, your average fan won't care about Aironi, Dragons, Glasgow any more than an Aironi, Dragons or Glasgow fan cares about us. It has to be all about Connacht. Fans should want to go see their team, regardless of the opposition, that's what needs to be the focus.
