Have ye seen your new survey with regard to the use of public transport (as opposed to the car)? IMO it would be very beneficial to close off College Road entirely to the car, should only be used for taxi, bus & tram. It is getting very dangerous on match days having cars flying through here plus alot of gardai resources!

It went into my promotions folder on gmail, so thanks for highlighting it. I think some effort should be put into co-coordinating trains from Athenry/Oranmore on match days. It's only a 9 minute journey from Oranmore in particular, so it would make sense for people to park and ride from there.

Didn't they have some Christmas Park&Ride from the old airport before? They might be considering that.

I suggested that there could be a bus that would run from North in the province down for games, it would mean supporters could have a pint and enjoy the atmosphere without worrying about parking, traffic etc

Yep. Though I would guess the main purpose of the survey is to gather evidence for the planning process, that we won't be bringing another thousand cars into town.

Train time are mostly okay. It's the 5ish kick off times that don't have an option until 10.30 to go home.

Grand if having a few scoops but not if the wife pass is for match only!

Wish I'd thought of that when I was doing the survey. Bring back evening kickoffs and I'll take the bus!

Oranmore train station has free parking, a free/cheap shuttle train in and out to Oranmore would be fantastic and would keep a lot of cars from entering the city

So we're on a synthetic pitch from next season on.
And no real other change to the ground itself for another two and a half seasons.

So Clan Stand gone (and no replacement built) for 2021-22 season. Wonder if they'll ship out for the year or try to make do with the other 3 sides?

At the public consultation I was chatting to someone from the branch who said the plan was to play ours games at the sportsground for the duration of the redevelopment.

It sounds as if nothing would be happening, but the planning process itself will be a slow and arduous task. there will prob be a few objections and this always slows down the process.

This plan allows for the pitch to be upgraded and while this is being done the planning process will be finalised allowing a clear run at the main development.

Courage is knowing what lies on the other side and still opening the door.

Obviously it's great news that things are moving along, but there's a part of me that's disappointed it's so far away until we're going to be in the new Stadium, also a little disappointed but not surprised that the 12,000 figure is including additional terracing, as was said months ago that would mean a potential HCC QF would have to be to a different venue, most likely outside of the province. I'm not trying to dampen spirits as I'm delighted to see we're moving in the right direction, anyone know if the drawings from that were displayed on the consultation day have been made public anywhere, would love to have a gawk at the full plans in detail.

I was assuming that the 10k figure was to reflect the fact that the end terraces won't be in use at all when not needed. Temporary stands for a QF, etc would be dealt with under a separate application if it arises.

Hope you're right! moving from 12 K to 15 K is a big big move with temporary stands...
