No change to the conferences for 18/19.
Q: Will it be the same format as last season or will you re-jig the conferences?
A: It will be the same two conferences, with teams playing the other sides in their section home and away and then teams from the other conference either home or away.
The one change is we will reverse the cross-conference fixtures.

From interview with the Pro 14 boss man.
Interesting to note that the boss man suggests 16 is the number of teams which would work for the league best in terms of reducing the number of games played, especially during the AI/6N windows.
At a guess in a Pro 16: 4 sections of 4: Irish, Welsh, South African and Scottish/Italian. Play H&A v sides in your own section to keep derbies and play the other 12 sides split Home and Away - 18 game season. Playoffs could be winner of each section then next 4 best sides in terms of points. Euro spots could be the section winners + next best 3 sides in terms of points.

Wooo, trip to Burke & Hare in Edinburgh this season
Would love to do the SA double header. Must check when the fixtures are released if it's feasible or not. Some time around March would be perfect

For fans travelling to SA, the Nov/Dec slot is probably the best of them ...

When can we expect a provisional itinerary Pinky?

There's a ferry from Cork to Santander and then from Algeciras to Tangiers. From there I assume it's straightforward enough ...

Fixtures out. As speculated, Four of first five games are arbitrary Home.
Virtually no Friday games at home. Very disappointing

As a non Galway resident delighted that so many games are on the Saturday!
Fixtures look very tough though, need to really up performances from last year to even be competitive.
Pity I've already booked holidays as SA road trip could have been done otherwise
Euro fixtures out in the next two weeks right?

I totally get it’s horses for courses on that one but even when I lived in Limerick (could see Thomond from the window) I’d prefer travelling for Friday games. The atmosphere seems a notch down on Saturday afternoons.

It depends entirely on your circumstances, but Saturday afternoons don't suit me anywhere near as much as Friday nights - and the atmosphere is definitely never as good when it's bright. I'm sure the new TV deal is behind it so we can't blame the branch (who probably aren't happy themselves from a marketing/ticket sales perspective).

There is definitely something about Friday nights whether its the early weekend buzz but as being Dublin based the Saturdays do suit me better as I dont have to take hours off but I'm sure the majority of supporters are Galway / Connacht based so it surpises me branch didnt push for further friday nights.
